Since the introduction of the first generation of DT Swiss Hybrid wheels, e-bikes, their users and their range of uses have changed significantly. Not only have the average drive forces increased significantly, more powerful batteries have almost doubled the average tour length and a rapidly growing proportion of riders regularly use the E-MTB on technically demanding single trails. Even in uncompromising e-enduro racing, modern e-bikes and their components have to prove themselves in the meantime. With the current hybrid line, the Swiss at DT-Swiss have taken these developments into account and, with their 27 years of experience, have adapted the e-bike-specific wheel series to the increased loads. The HX 1700 models form the middle class among the DT-Swiss hybrid wheels. With specially developed hubs and high-quality, welded aluminum rims, you are equipped for all E-MTB adventures.
DT Swiss 350 Hybrid hubs
In order to be prepared for the higher loads in E-MTB use, the current 350 hub generation has been specially adapted. The newly designed, enlarged hub body has improved durability and can better absorb the higher braking and drive torques. Cassette holders made of specially hardened steel ensure wear-free power transmission to the freewheel body. The proven DT-Swiss Ratchet freewheel system has also been adapted to the higher loads. Toothed washers made of hardened steel and a 24-fold toothing per wheel revolution offer the optimal combination of durability and responsiveness for this type of freewheel.
The welded aluminum rims with their large inner width of 30 millimeters wide tires offer very good support at low air pressures. In order to be equipped for a maximum system weight of 150 kg (driver, luggage and bike), the rims have been reinforced at the crucial points. In particular, the inner area around the spoke holes, which is crucial for power transmission, has been given a greater wall thickness. The rim profile has of course been designed for tubeless use. The matching tubeless tape and tubeless valve are already included in the scope of delivery.
DT Swiss Hybrid 1 spoke
The DT Swiss Hybrid 1 spokes were specially developed for use on E-MTBs. The Straightpull spokes have been reinforced, especially at the spoke heads. With a maximum tensile force that is 30% higher than that of conventional MTB spokes, they can better absorb the higher drive and braking torques and thus ensure permanent lateral and torsional rigidity of the wheels.
Pro Lock technology
In the Pro Lock process, a patented two-component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread and enables extremely durable impellers to be built. As soon as the nipples are screwed in, the adhesive is activated and cures completely after approx. 6 - 7 hours at room temperature. Repeated re-centering is still possible without any problems, whereby the adhesive force decreases slightly with each re-centering.
