Pirelli presents scorpion, the revolutionary MTB range
After returning in the cycling environment in 2017, Pirelli proposes a new MTB range for 2019.
It is called Scorpion, and contains Pirelli's know-how in the world of off-road competitions. The shape of the blocks starts from the experience and the technologies of the Scorpion MX range, used on all the world's motocross and supercross races, with more than 65 conquered world titles.
After over 300,000km of tests, carried out on all the habitats of our MTB, they are finally ready to face the paths.
Four proposed models, each with a different code to identify its use.
The scorpions H (Hard terrain), red, are dedicated to compact and rocky soils. When driving in hard conditions it is important to have good fluency and a good feeling when facing high speed corners. The result is a low profile rubber and tread with numerous dowels, perfect for driving at high speed with a great sense of security on all types of compact soil, both dry and wet.
The scorpions M (Mixed terrain), yellow, offer the right balance between smoothness and aggressiveness to tackle any type of terrain with variable consistency. A combination rubber with a spacing of the blocks and a perfect design for mixed conditions, such as undergrowth and dirt tracks, whether dry or wet.
The scorpions S (Soft terrain), light blue, are specific for soft and inconsistent terrain. Driving on this type of terrain requires an aggressive tread, able to penetrate and offer excellent grip during cornering and traction, without compromising smoothness. These characteristics are obtained with an aggressive design with high gussets spaced from them and a compound that offers high grip both on dry and wet, without deformations that would compromise the smoothness.
The scorpions R (rear specific), green, are developed specifically for the rear wheel. A product optimized to offer uncompromised performance during traction and braking and a particular control of the bike's rear end in the bending phase, as well as greater resistance to wear compared to generic models. The spacing and the size of the blocks follow what has been developed for the Mixed terrain model, making it a perfect tire for mixed terrain and variable conditions.
All models are available in standard or Lite versions, with a lower rolling resistance and an even lower weight.
Weights range from 660gr of the Hard Terrain model from 2.20 "to 855gr of the soft model of 2.40".
For the 27.5 "models instead, we will have to wait a few more weeks.
